چکیده

In this letter we analyze the Hamiltonian formulation of the Jackiw-Teitelboim model of 2D gravity and calculate the central charge associated with the asymptotic symmetries, taking care of boundary terms. For black hole solutions, we show that there is no √ 2 discrepancy between the thermodynamical entropy and the statistical one obtained via Cardy’s formula. PACS numbers: 04.20.-q, 04.70.-s, 04.70.Dy Two-dimensional dilatonic models of gravity received recently much attention. Their importance relays on their role in the conjectured AdS/CFT correspondence [1, 2] and in describing some properties of higher-dimensional black-holes (see e.g. [3]). Two distinct realizations of the AdS2/CFT correspondence are known [4]. The simplest one is known as AdS2/CFT1 and can be understood in terms of boundary fields [3], but is believed to be plagued by a value of the central charge that leads to a mismatch between statistical and thermodynamical entropy of black hole solutions of the Jackiw-Teitelboim model. In a previous paper [5] we have shown that if the U(1) timelike symmetry of a stationary solutions has fixed points, then the hamiltonian for gravity has a boundary term coming from the fixed point set, and moreover that this term can be interpreted in a CFT language. This gave a statistical entropy matching correctly to the usual thermodynamics of black holes. It was clear from [5] that this horizon boundary term is a general feature of gravity in any dimension. Take for example the BTZ[6] black hole, with metric

PREPRINT SERIES 2011 / 2012 NO : 2 TITLE : ‘ BRICK WALLS AND ADS / CFT ’ AUTHOR ( S ) : Dr

We discuss the relationship between the bulk-boundary correspondence in Rehren’s algebraic holography (and in other ‘fixed-background’, QFT-based, approaches to holography) and in mainstream string-theoretic ‘Maldacena AdS/CFT’. Especially, we contrast the understanding of black-hole entropy from the point of view of QFT in curved spacetime – in the framework of ’t Hooft’s ‘brick wall’ model – ...

Puzzles at Large N

We consider the AdS/CFT correspondence and find that essentially all " single particle " primary fields with higher spin, predicted from the CFT side are missing from the Kaluza-Klein excitations of the AdS supergravity. Some 2 and 4 dimensional CFT's are used to illustrate the puzzle. In the 2 dimensional case, the high mass extension of these missing states gives rise to the macroscopic entro...

Conformal anomaly from dS / CFT correspondence

In frames of dS/CFT correspondence suggested by Strominger we calculate holographic conformal anomaly for dual euclidean CFT. The holographic renormalization group method is used for this purpose. It is explicitly demonstrated that two-dimensional and four-dimensional conformal anomalies (or corresponding central charges) have the same form as those obtained in AdS/CFT duality. Logarithmic operators in SL ( 2 , IR ) WZNW model , Singletons and AdS 3 / ( L ) CFT 2 correspondence

We discuss the origin of logarithmic operators in AdS 3 string theory. It is shown that j = − 1 2 representation can give logarithmic correlation functions in the boundary CFT. Singletons play a special role in AdS 3 /CF T 2 correspondence as they also give logarithmic correlation functions in boundary CFT. For this one has to cross the j = − 1 2 barrier and define correlation functions for j >...
